~270 km | 5.0-5.5 Hours Riding | Curviness: 4/5 ⭐
A full-day ride into the deep heart of the Abruzzo National Park. This loop blends dramatic limestone canyons, three mountain lakes, high plateaus and flowing forest roads. Less extreme than the Alpine Peaks, but richer in variety and atmosphere.
Enter the narrow, carved limestone canyons of the Sagittario. Tight technical twisties cut between vertical rock walls, with the river running far below.
Passing through the cliffside village of Villalago to reach the heart-shaped Lake Scanno. Ancient stone architecture perched above crystal waters — a perfect stop for espresso and a short walk.
Descend toward the shores of Lake Barrea and the small stone village of Villetta Barrea. This is classic National Park territory — quiet, green, and often crossed by wild deer that move freely between the forests and the water.
A long, relaxing high plateau with smooth asphalt and wide views. The perfect contrast after the tighter canyon roads — pure flow and space.
From the high plateau the road opens and flows back toward Pescara, closing a day of canyons, lakes and mountain air.
